James Hourd - Fine Art Landscape Photography

Profile

James holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with First Class Honours from Manchester University and a Foundation in Art and Design from Coventry University.

He took a year out to travel Siberia, Mongolia, China, Australia and Africa and while in Australia was inspired by the high standards of professional landscape photography and its wide acceptance as an art form.

James was already a keen photographer when he returned to the British Isles with a new perspective and appreciation for the landscape. Focusing on medium format photography he developed his knowledge, expertise and experience from his home in Marlborough, Wiltshire and the West Country in general.

He was immediately drawn to the panoramic system with its similarity to our own view of the world. Using a Fuji GX 617 Professional view camera James is able to produce extremely large prints that retain exceptional detail and sharpness.

His most productive shoots are during the ethereal hours of dawn and dusk when the landscape often takes on a magical quality of light and form allowing James to explore natures colour at its most vibrant.
