This gallery represents the panoramic work of James Hourd. Based in Marlborough, Wiltshire, he has spent many years exploring the glorious countryside and rugged coastline of the South West of Britain.
Inspired by the beauty and diversity of the natural landscape, often at the ethereal times of first and last light when long shadows and warm light transform the environment.
An exhaustive amount of time and effort is spent on each individual print. From days in the field waiting for the perfect alignment of conditions to selecting and preparing only the best quality images. Meticulous attention to detail is applied at every stage of the process. Every photographic print is captured on Fuji Velvia transparency film using a Fuji GX 617 medium format camera. While the equipment is large and cumbersome to transport and use, this painstaking approach allows me to produce extremely large true-to-life prints that retain exceptional detail and sharpness.
