Hadrians Wall, Northumberland

Hadrians Wall, Northumberland

This section of Hadrians Wall is particularly impressive, rising and falling beside cliffs and lakes. I had spent a couple of days exploring locations along its route and earmarked this spot for dusk. I setup late in the afternoon and watched as the flow of walkers slowed till the land was eventually empty and silent. The oak tree sits astride the wall between two mirrored mounds. Silhouetting the tree, wall and hills against the darkening sky exaggerated the symmetry of the landscape in front of me.

I made my way back along the wall in darkness quietly pleased with the days outcome.
